Our Grant Kick off party was a huge success! More than forty Sandy Cove residents and neighbors attended the wonderful barbeque on our “greenway by the beach" on Sunday, January 27th. It was a tremendous show of support for our Grant and the re-landscaping of our entrance and north side of our greenway.
Attendees brought creative salads, appetizers and desserts that were delicious ! Our Grant Committee donated hamburgers and hot dogs. Supporters from Sandy Cove 2, 3, and 4 as well as other Siesta Key residents enjoyed the Florida sun and brisk winds while getting to know one another and learning about the grant.
Residents enthusiastically signed up to start the work on the entrance.
Trees were taken down at the front entrance on Tuesday, January 29th and 11 people did back-breaking work cleaning the area and preparing it for planting.
Many people from other neighborhoods and Associations stopped by to commend us for our efforts and thank us for improving this important part of Ocean Blvd..
Planting will begin on Monday February 4th. We can always use helpers so join us if you can. After the entrance is completed we will begin working on the greenway. The entire project will take several weeks
Soon you will notice great changes to our Sandy Cove landscape!
Many thanks to the Grant committee, all those who helped set up and clean up at our party and Sarasota County for all their assistance. We are looking forward to a completion party in a couple of months!
